| The mission of Veterinary Epidemiology at the College of Veterinary
Medicine at Cornell University is education of graduate and professional
students, research regarding animal health and production, and consultation
for study design and analysis. |
| |
About Us |
 |
We conduct research on health, productivity, and welfare of food-
and fiber-producing animals, companion animals, and wildlife populations,
and on the safety of foods of animal origin.
We teach concepts/principles of epidemiology, population medicine,
and biostatistics to students, graduates, the public, and professionals
in the animal industries.
We provide consultation on study design and analysis to students,
faculty, and other professionals both inside and outside the Veterinary
College.
Our group includes seven professorial level faculty members (four
in epidemiology, one in the Diagnostic Laboratory, one in Ambulatory
and Production Medicine, and one in Quality Milk Promotion Service).
Several of the faculty have international connections, and all have
collaborations that extend beyond the university. Our faculty members
serve on federal panels, as officers in international professional
organizations, and as editors, editorial-board members, and ad-hoc
reviewers for international journals. The faculty has been involved
outside of the university in workshops dealing with various aspects
of epidemiology. In the local community, one faculty member serves
on the animal issues committee of the Tompkins County SPCA.
Our group is also responsible for providing instruction within both
the D.V.M. and graduate curricula in the principles of epidemiology
and study design. |
